I was able to listen to/watch most of Michael Jackson’s memorial service the other day. I was amazed and excited to see the name of Jesus Christ glorified to an audience of millions of people worldwide!! Check out Jim Bramlett’s (a Christian writer and evangelist) post about this here. Below is Lionel Richie performing ‘Jesus is Love’ at the memorial service.
“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Matthew 5:11-12 (NIV BibleGateway.com)
Stand up for Christ. Stand up for His Word. Count it as joy when you suffer for such.
“Like everyone, there have been times that you and I have needed to forgive someone else. And, like everyone, you and I have had times when we’ve needed to be forgiven by someone we’ve offended.
Are there emotional and spiritual benefits to forgiving another person? What happens to our emotions when we decide not to forgive someone? Does experiencing forgiveness have the power to heal damaged emotions or heal a serious psychological disorder? There are some striking and sometimes surprising answers to these kinds of questions.”

I heard Pastor Steven Furtick<1> say in one of his sermons that “great opportunities begin with simple obedience.” This is taught in Jesus’ Parable of the Talents in the book of Matthew when the master said to the servant, ’Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’ (Matthew 25:21, NIV translation). Read the full parable here.
What am I doing with the things God has entrusted me with? Am I faithful in the “small” things? Do I have simple obedience?
I need to start focusing on being obedient and faithful with the things God has already blessed me with. Then I can expect great opportunities from the Lord.

I liked this post from one of my good friends, Patrick. A post about failures, misconceptions, and myths. A story of his uncle’s journey to truth. Check it out here. Patrick is a free lance photographer based in Columbia, SC. Follow him on his blog (and check out some of his work) or check him out on Facebook. “See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.” Colossians 2:8
Oh how prevalent are such hollow and deceptive philosophies today, even within our churches. I am concerned that such philosophies are accepted and followed as they are popular or appear reasonable to our human minds. Wether disguised as “new generation,” or traditions of man passed down from generation to generation, be aware of such philosophies, teachings, and ideologies that are based on human reasoning and not divine revelation. Such things that are not based on Christ but rather the principles of the world are empty of actual truth and deceive and/or lead us astray (takes us captive).
Challenge philosophies of man and this world. Look to the scriptures. Base philosophies, teachings, and ideologies on Christ and Christ alone.
Just wanted to start off this post by saying NO I do not follow iJusine on YouTube! However, she seems to be pretty popular on the interweb (personally, I don’t know why) and my friend Rachel debuted (she is the one asking the Lost question) in one of her latest videos seen below. So I just wanted to give her a shout out. See Rachel’s YouTube videos here.
“Wisdom Wednesdays” has begun. Included in these weekly posts will be quotes, principles, lessons, and other such “wisdoms” (I use this term loosely) I pick up along the way relating to life, business, spirituality, etc. You will probably be seeing a lot of “wisdoms” coming from Napoleon Hill (like the quote below) as I have been reading some of his publications recently. Check out his stuff here.
The idea behind these weekly posts is not only to share with you some sweet nasty “wisdom” that I have learned, but it keeps me in the right mindset as I am forced to rehash, study, dwell on, and write out “wisdom” on a regular basis.
It’s all about the mindset.

A picture of one of the girls in the villages we vistited during the Christmas 2008 Missions Trip to Nicaragua. Among the items we gave out were dolls and t-shirts. I am praying that I am able to go back this Christmas. I continuoulsy think about the many needs in this country and across the world for those less fortunate. If you get an opportunity to go on a missions trip, volunteer trip, or just help out at your local soup kitchen, I encourage you to jump on the opportunity!
